Quirky house in the country

Pros: The house is out in the countryside, which was what we wanted. We’d had a busy, sometimes stressful, few weeks and so we needed peace and quiet. If you like quirky, different, unusual, this could be the property for you. The room was interestingly furnished: for example, I’ve never had a piano in my bedroom before! And some of the furniture seemed antique. The bathroom was clean and tidy, and bed narrow but comfortable. The house is clearly an old Manor House in the process of renovation. To this end it is sometimes used as an exhibition centre for local artists to display their work. The breakfast was also unusual, a collection almost of tapas, many including local produce either from the host’s garden or nearby Chantada. The host is informative about the history of Galicia if you are able to speak one of his languages: we spoke Portuguese and he replied in Gallego. We managed to understand each other.

Cons: The host was somewhat exacting. I didn’t expect to be asked to name a time for breakfast, only to be told that ‘punctuality’ was important. At my age I don’t expect to be treated like a school girl! I guess, though, this is all part of the quirkiness of the property. A word of advice to future guests: make sure you put Sabadelle into a Satnav first. I put in Fondo da Vila, Sabadelle, as it was written in my booking acceptance form and was taken to a Fundo da Vila miles away. My satnav in the car - yours may be different - only recognised the first part of the address. Luckily a local man offered to guide us to the right place some 7-10 kms away.

Pros: Lovely stone home in the heart of Galicia, hosts are very welcoming and kind

Cons: The noise of the heater is very low but unfortunally my partner couldnt sleep.

A hidden gem

Pros: A hidden gem in a beautiful old building. Beautifully appointed and exceptional value. Hidden in a small village, the only noise is the farm animals. Exceptional breakfast of local produce is included Strongly recommended.

Pros: El lugar donde está,un sitio muy tranquilo con animales,los dueños muy amables con un desayuno muy rico y abundante,la cama muy cómoda. Desconexión y descanso con un bonito paseo cerca.

Pros: Espectacular, vaya desayunos, pero sobre todo qué atención personalizada y tan amable de Xosé, de ambos.

Fin de semana en la historia de Galicia

Pros: El lugar donde está ubicado,lo bonito del alojamiento,los detalles del mismo,la historia del pazo que nos contó Xose Figueroa,lo agradable y familiar de la estancia.
