Perfect place for calm and relaxing stay

Pros: Gorgeous peaceful location; you can hear the river from bed. Ahhh the bed….the most comfortable bed in Spain, and possibly the world. Also the staff are delightful friendly people. Highly recommend this place!!

Enjoyed the beautiful location, swimming pool and evening meal.

Pros: Great location on the river Minho, with the Water Mill and swimming pool. Very enjoyable evening meal.

Cons: Not easy to find, ruguengo is not on any map! – better directions would help. No egg or proper toast at breakfast.

Pros: Superb location, in the countryside, full of character and charm. It felt like we were staying in an old medieval finca. The hotel was immaculate with friendly staff. There was a lovely pool which we enjoyed on a hot July day. The food was something else. Both quality and quantity were perfectly served by the owner who made recommendations and attentive with being intrusive.

Cons: Unfortunately the shower head was broken which meant the shower head had to be held whilst showering but this was a very minor inconvenience which did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay and the 10/10 score

Hidden treasure

Pros: Simply stunning, Extremely peaceful location definitely recommend a car, perfect for us tranquil, gorgeous food lovely very helpful staff couldn't ask for any more, would 100 percent recommend to those travellers who love the beauty of nature and history, want a beautiful setting with wonderful food where you are made to feel valued and special thankyou

We didn't want to leave

Pros: This accommodation is very special. Having travelled extensively it is a property I would come back to immediately. It is an oasis of calm with the bonus of the patina of age. The charming owner/manager went out of his way to make our stay very special despite not having a common language. We didn't want to leave.

Pros: Magical location out in the woods, by a huge river. We booked last minute in a bit of a panic looking for something dog friendly. It was a Sunday evening in the winter so very quiet but we got a warm welcome. Room was comfortable and the Lodge was warm. The staff even lit the wood fire for us. Amazing place to hike and be out in nature.

Cons: Two pet charges (we were travelling with two small dogs) for the same room seems a bit steep. I know a lot of hotels do this though (2x20 eur).

A great hotel in a rural location

Pros: Great rural location, lovely room, excellent food, staff very nice, dog friendly

Cons: The only reason we didn’t score a 10 was because the room got very hot at night and the radiators could not be turned off. Couldn’t open the window as we were on the ground floor….

Pros: An idyllic, riverside, rural retreat, perfect to get away from it all, and simply relax totally. An excellent meal.

Exceptional place to stay

Pros: Incredible special hotel in a beautiful location. Staff were outstanding and food and service memorable. Beautiful room with the most comfortable bed surrounded by tasteful decor and furnishings. A really special place deserves five stars !We would love to come back and would highly recommend.
