An axcellent overnight stay away from the city

Pros: Off the beaten track so in a quiet location. However despite being a well modernised, lovely old stone built property there were some noise issues recognised by the hotel who posted notices asking guests to respect their neighbours. Fortunately we experienced no major issues and there no guests wearing clogs as the beautiful wooden floors (which were ceilings too) did allow for 'noises off'. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and competent and the breakfast and dinner really excellent. Parking ok.

Cons: Apart from possible noise issues mentioned above that other guests might experience but we didn't we couldn't fault the hotel and would certainly stay there again.

Pros: The peacefulness. Character and the food and service was amazing!

Hidden gem

Pros: Loved this place. Hosts were welcoming and friendly Accommodation was beautiful and charming. Food was wonderful.

Pros: Lovely retreat away from the hustle and bustle. Good breakfast. Owners were great in everything: quick to respond and helpful as our piece of luggage had went missing on the flight, just wonderful.

Pros: The owners and the staff are very friendly. Breakfast is great and the dinner menu is extensive, The wine recommendation from Julio was excellent. The house is cozy, big room and beautiful garden! Only 10 min from Santiago driving.

Good base to explore from

Pros: Elena was exceptional. Always smiling & eager to serve us. The breakfast was very good & again Elena looked after us very well. Comfortable bed & we were provided with a fan during a heatwave. Very clean & well maintained property. Upon request, the owner supplied us with a detailed & informative travel itinerary to visit interesting places. The property is full of character and in a peaceful location. Conveniently close to Santiago de Compostela. .

Cons: We had an evening meal upon arrival because we had been travelling. The meal was extremely basic and over priced. The Tiramasu dessert was a supermarket purchase. (In a plastic container). There are many great local restaurants where you can dine out at reasonable prices. No storage for toiletries in the bathroom. No drawers, only a small wardrobe. We found it easier to live out of our suitcase during our 5 night stay. No blind at the bathroom window to keep the oppressive summer heat out. A fridge (even a communal fridge) to store water in would have kept it cold during the summer heatwave.

Pros: The building is 200 years old and has been beautifully restored with great love and attention to detail. It immediately felt like home.

Cons: There weren’t really any downsides. While there’s no air conditioning, the room stayed comfortable even in the middle of summer thanks to a good fan and the possibility to keep the windows open. Personally, I can understand the choice — adding air conditioning might detract from the charm and character of this beautifully restored building.
